Henry graduated from Northern State University with a degree in Business Administration with the emphasis on Economics in 1973.
He began his early career in the grain business working for Multi- National companies as well as some of the USA Agricultural Stalwarts Pillsbury and Con-Agra. Henry matriculated to the pavement business in 1993 when his wife was employed by a cold patch asphalt producer. Within weeks Henry determined that while the company had a great idea they had deficiencies in the business model and Henry and Mary started their own company literally filling potholes out the back of their mini-van. Within three (3) years we were a fully licensed GC in NC/SC, doing interior and exterior up fits to restaurants and shopping centers as well as managing the asphalt process for these same customers.
Eventually we had offices in GA and NC, self-performing sealcoating and rejuvenation and sub-contracting paving and concrete. In 2004 we formed Pavement Exchange Group and now have offices in Charlotte, NC, Pittsboro, NC, Little Rock AR and Dallas TX.
Henry’s emphasis going forward is to grow the business with increasing sales by customizing solutions that help the customer grow their business profitably as well. When not working, Henry enjoys the company of his wife on trips around the USA and overseas, and of course precious time with his nine (9) grandkids.
I was born in Pittsburgh, now reside in Lake Wylie, SC and have been married for over ten years with two children. I am a proud pap-pap to a grand puppy and am a certified chocoholic. Soon after I was born in Oceanside, Ca, yes, a Military brat, we moved to Albany, Ga where we lived until I was 21 years old. We then made our way to St Augustine, FL where I’ve been pretty much ever since. I have a 16-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son and I’m in a committed relationship with my best friend. I worked in the tourism/hospitality business for 14 years in this beautiful city as everything from a Retail Manager, to the Accounting and HR Manager for the largest site seeing tour company in town, to the Director of Operations for multiple retail stores, museums and restaurants. I received a job offer to become a Project Coordinator from Pavement Exchange in November 2015 and with a much-needed change of pace, we packed up the house and kids and moved North. Within a year, we decided it was too much of a change and packed up again, and moved back home to St Augustine where I continue to work for PEG.
I’m a Charlotte native and funnily enough, I have a degree in German from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After a brief stint of living in Germany, I discovered I really enjoy project management and coordination while working for an interpreting and language company. Since arriving at the Pavement Exchange Group, I have come to fully appreciate the pavement industry in ways I had not even considered before. I am glad to be somewhere where I learn something new every day, and my colleagues are wonderful and always willing to help. In my free time, I try to stay active, am always keeping up with the latest food trends, and work with International House, a Charlotte area non-profit dedicated to promoting international understanding. My Charlotte based family is very important to me, and one of my biggest life’s aspirations is to get a dog! I consider myself immensely grateful to be a part of the Pavement Exchange Group team, and look forward to continuing to learn about the pavement industry and helping PEG grow.
